In a nutshell, having an authentic website design coupled with secured website management is not just a luxury anymore in the business world, but a necessity. Because let’s face it; how you present your business online can heavily dictate your business’s future opportunities, networking expansions, and ultimately, its survival. And if you don’t have a website yet at all, then you are only stunting your growth rather than helping it. Now, if you are on the fence about whether or not a killer UX website is worth the investment, then stick around for a bit. Because below, you’ll discover that websites are not just some coding slathered together but rather the bloodline for 21st-century business prosperity.

1. Offers Excellent First Impressions

First and foremost, never forget that humans are visual creatures by nature. This means having a professional, sharp, and clean website design can effectively set your brand up to generate amazing first impressions for potential customers. In short, having a website is one thing, but having one with pristine visuals added during website development unlocks a whole new level of potential. When done mindfully, you can obtain a website that resonates with your brand image and helps others see that you are legit, put together, and worth invested time and money into.

Furthermore, a quality website is where you can engage with others using your brand image and offer insightful information that helps you connect with your audiences more personally. Keep in mind that a good website design is not just about how it looks; how it functions is just as important to gain those good first impressions and cultivate long-term customer relationships.

2. Improves the Bottom Line Through Improved Search Rankings

Tying into point #1, having a website, especially a good one that fostered lasting first impressions, can become the catalyst for improved bottom-line growth due to higher organic searches. Why? Because when you have a high-performing and SEO-rich website, it enables you to become more recognizable on SERPs. For example, the Google algorithm is a massively complex system that scans for credible websites using various ranking signals. Some of those include how fast, user-friendly, and quality-driven it is. In general, the better your website development, the better your chances are at ranking higher in SEO search results – thus allowing you to gain tons more exposure when people search for your particular industry online.

3. Round the Clock Brand Marketing

“Websites promote you 24/7. No employee will do that.” – Paul Cookson.

If you are not a fan of manual marketing, then have some peace of mind that a website can help with this. By having a website for your business, you can gain 24/7 marketing capabilities regardless of what your standard store hours might be. When going with a quality website designer, they will spend time maximizing the aesthetics of your website and functionality, both of which will allow your customers to access your business easily any time they desire. What this means for you is that you are boosting your brand image, gaining impressions, and locking in sales even if you are sleeping. The best part is that those online browsers can potentially transform into brand advocates as well and help advance your business even more through word-of-mouth marketing. If that is your goal, it starts by making that first push by opting for a website to create the perfect domino effect.

4. Helps Strengthen Customer Service

There are numerous other website development advantages that all make it a spearheading investment. However, the last notable one towards the top of that list is none other than strengthening your customer service relations. Having and using a well-oiled website can significantly reduce bounce-back rates, pioneer conversations, and become the golden gateway to connect with your audience more. In addition, leveraging a website alongside social media accounts can monumentally help you interact, address customer concerns in real-time, and answer pressing questions where answers can be posted for everyone to refer to from there on out.

Not to mention that an immersive website will inadvertently humanize yourself, allowing your audience to look behind the brand itself and get a better feel of who you are what values you hold. What do you get as a result? With the extra customer service focus through a strong website design will bolster your brand rapport, amplify your customer service satisfaction rates, and earn more five-star ratings to help solidify a growth-driven future.

-Bonus Point-

Want to know a secret? You don’t always have to be the one interacting with your customers! For the more common questions, you can set up a Chatbot to support on your behalf while you address more complex customer service matters. Yes, this is automated technology, but it is exceptionally easy to tailor to your brand voice and can reduce wait time by helping more people faster.

Responsive Web Design Principles

Nowadays, it’s common practice to build a website or app that adjusts its user interface depending upon the browser or the device. There are two approaches to achieve this goal. The first involves creating different versions of your website or app for different devices. But it’s inefficient and can lead to unpredictable errors.

In a search for a reliable, future-proof approach, the responsive — or adaptive — design was coined. It focuses on building a single version of your layout that adapts to different browsers or devices automatically.

In this article, we’ll learn about responsive web design and the fundamental principles that will help you make an awesome website.

Responsive Web Design Ingredients

Responsive web design is not as complicated as it sounds. It’s a set of practices that you can use when writing CSS, not a separate technology that you’ll have to learn from scratch. You might already be following several of these principles without realizing it. You can understand responsive web design by exploring its four ingredients: fluid layouts, responsive units, flexible images, and media queries.

Fluid Layouts

With a fluid layout, you can create web pages that adapt to the current viewport width and height. Common practice includes using the max-width property instead of giving a fixed width to an element. Also, using percentage ({4224f0a76978c4d6828175c7edfc499fc862aa95a2f708cd5006c57745b2aaca}), viewport height (vh), or viewport width (vw) helps improve adaptability that is not possible with pixels (px). So, next time you’re building a layout, make sure to introduce these small changes and start benefitting from responsive design techniques.

Responsive Units

As you move to more advanced CSS, you’ll often see the use of rem and em units for length instead of px units. This is because the rem unit makes it super easy to scale the entire layout. By default, 1rem equals 16px because it’s proportional to the <html> element’s font size, typically 16px. However, you can set 1rem equal to 10px (or any other value) for easier calculations, by adjusting the top-level font size.

Flexible Images

Images are a prime concern while designing even the most basic layout. You always have to take care to size them properly so that they fit the design. Also, by default, they don’t scale with changes in the viewport. So, you should use {4224f0a76978c4d6828175c7edfc499fc862aa95a2f708cd5006c57745b2aaca} for the dimensions of your images, along with the max-width property.

Media Queries

You can bring responsive sites to life by using media queries. Fluid grids are good to start with, but you’ll find that there are a few points where the layout starts to break down. Adding breakpoints for these viewport widths tunes the layout for different devices. Media queries help you to selectively apply CSS based on the results of media feature tests. You can explore new CSS features to make a responsive website in less time.

Responsive Web Design Principles

Responsive website for different screen size

Though responsive web design is a savior when it comes to multi-screen problems, you may not have a fixed physical constraint to refer to. Therefore, there are six basic responsive web design principles to get started with when designing a responsive layout.

Use Content-Based Breakpoints

One of the fundamental design principles states that your website design should support the content, not the other way around. Media content such as videos, photographs, and text content like long and short web copy should be optimally rendered on all screens. The key to responsive web design is to use content-based breakpoints rather than device-based ones.

Choose Web Fonts and System Fonts Wisely

Web fonts look stunning! You have numerous options to modify your design with cool-looking web fonts. But you should know that browsers will need to download each web font. More web fonts, more download time. In contrast, system fonts are lightning-fast. If the user does not have a named system font on their local device, it will fall back to the next font in the font-family stack. Therefore, make sure to consider load time and design demand when choosing fonts.

Optimize Bitmap Images and Vectors

Do you have different icons on your website, supporting the content? It’s often good practice to use a bitmap format if your icons have a lot of detail. On the other hand, vector formats are the way to go for icons that scale up and down nicely. Vectors are often tiny, but the downside is that some older browsers may not support them. Also, there are cases when vectors are heavier than bitmaps, such as when the image is very detailed. Therefore, always ensure that you are optimizing your bitmap images and vectors before they go online.

Conduct Tests for Responsive First Fold

The first fold of a website is the view that visitors see when it first loads, before any scrolling. It often includes a hero section with a responsive navigation bar, introductory copy and media, and a CTA. Responsiveness isn’t merely limited to mobile devices. You should consider tablets, gaming consoles, and other screens too. So, the key is to conduct frequent tests at least for the first fold view of the website. You can use Chrome DevTools (Lighthouse) to test the web page quality.

Don’t Hide Content on Smaller Screens

Many people used to assume that mobile users are always in a rush, looking for bite-sized information, while desktop users are more into long-form content. We now recognize that this isn’t true in today’s world. People are using mobile devices everywhere, looking for complete content and full access to all services. You should ensure that, instead of hiding content, you are managing the layout and breakpoints to present it as easily and effortlessly as possible.

Manage the Layout Using Nested Objects

Building a site layout and positioning elements correctly takes a decent amount of effort. You may also have experienced difficulty in managing a lot of elements that are dependent on each other. Therefore, you should consider wrapping related elements in a container or <section>. This helps to reduce the task of laying out several elements to one in which you’re laying out just a single element.

Responsive Design: Should You Go With Desktop First or Mobile First?

The desktop first approach means you’ll write CSS for large screens and then apply media queries to shrink the design for smaller screens. In contrast, the mobile first approach involves writing CSS for mobile devices, with smaller screens, and then applying media queries to expand the design for larger screens. The prime focus is to reduce the website and the apps to the absolute essentials.

If you are just starting out with responsive web development then you should go for the desktop-first approach as at the end of the day, you’ll have to stack the container one upon another on mobile devices. Although it is completely a personal decision, the mobile first approach helps you in structuring the HTML in a better way while the desktop-first approach will help you with layout and spacing techniques.

HubSpot : 16 Web Design Trends to Watch in 2021

The landscape of web design is always evolving.

Something that looked modern and fresh yesterday can appear dated seemingly overnight, and trends once dismissed as irrevocably passé can unexpectedly cycle back in vogue.

Still, one thing remains constant: Websites are the most important marketing channel for many businesses, and the second most popular marketing channel among businesses according to HubSpot research.

Given the importance of websites to most businesses and the fact that half of consumers think website design is crucial to a business’s brand, it’s worth the effort to make your own website that matches today’s trends.

However, this doesn’t mean you need to scrap your site’s vision to engage visitors. There’s plenty of room for stylistic choices across the spectrum. As HubSpot Senior Product Designer Dan Hartshorn notes, “I’ve noticed lately many SaaS offerings go either monochromatic or black&white in their UI, or go the opposite direction, and just COVER their UI in color, shadows, gradients, skeuomorphic, etc.”

To help you prepare for wherever the web design tide takes us, we’ve put together a list of 16 trends to keep a close eye on. Check them out below, and get inspired to tackle your web design projects this year with style.

2. Cinemagraphs

3. Brutalism

To stand out in a sea of tidy, organized websites, some designers are opting for more eclectic, convention-defying structures. While it can seem jarring at first, many popular brands are now incorporating these aggressively alternative design elements into their sites, such as Bloomberg.

Brutalismemerged as a reaction to the increasing standardization of web design and is often characterized by stark, asymmetrical, nonconformist visuals, and a distinct lack of hierarchy and order. 4. Saturated Gradients

Gradients have been all over the web for the past few years, and it doesn’t seem like they’re going anywhere just yet. Copywriting agency Monograph Communications illustrates a perfect example of how to make this effect look fresh and modern, with its full-screen, gradient-washed homepage.

8. Ultra-minimalism

Taking classic minimalism to the extreme, some designers are defying conventions of what a website needs to look like, displaying just the absolute bare necessities. The site from designerMathieu Boulet is centered around a few choice links to their social profiles and information.

Whimsical patterns and shapes are popping up more frequently on websites, adding some flair in a landscape otherwise ruled by flat andmaterial design. Canadian design studioMSDS uses daring, patterned letters on their homepage.

11. Serif Fonts

Due to screen resolution limitations and an overall lack of online font support, designers avoided serif fonts for years to keep websites legible and clean. With recent improvements, serif fonts are having a big moment in 2021 – and they’ve never looked more modern. As seen onThe Sill, a serif headline adds a dose of sophistication and style.

13. Broken Grids

While grids remain one of the most common and efficient ways of displaying text and images on websites, broken grids continue to make their way into mainstream sites and offer a change-up from the norm. Check out the website for HealHaus, for example. Its homepage features images and text blocks that overlap.

14. Organic Shapes
